Biographical Info

Our primary goal is to professionally envision and construct new pipe organs and restore existing instruments that transcend the esthetic and artistic vision of our clients in a personable, knowledgeable, and practical manner.

From a modern and fully-equipped workshop of 8,500 square feet located in southeastern Pennsylvania, the skilled craftspeople of Patrick J. Murphy & Associates serve congregations and academic institutions across the continental United States.

Our reputation for excellence grows as we satisfy the musical, aesthetic, liturgical, and pragmatic requirements of clients who delight in the music and the magnificence of pipe organs, old and new. Because our work encompasses new organ manufacture as well as period organ rebuilding and restoration, our expert advice is objective. Our experience and expertise will make a vital contribution to these deliberations, and we can assist in the acquisition and accomplish the refurbishment, restoration, adaptation, and installation of an existing pipe organ, if desired. Consultation can be arranged with Patrick J. Murphy at your convenience.

Our director is an accomplished organbuilder, university-trained organist, and experienced cabinetmaker, and our staff is experienced with all styles of pipe organs and pipe organ mechanisms – 20th Century electro-pneumatic, electro-mechanical, electric-slider, and mechanical actions.

We evaluate and present to the client the full range of design alternatives. Our firm also provides services of tuning and maintenance of pipe organs, including those built or rebuilt by our firm, or by another pipe organ builders.
